Leveraging Video for Social Media Marketing

Video is considered the most effective engagement object and considered important for future search engine optimization (SEO) efforts, but it’s also integral to your social media marketing endeavors. Social media marketing harnesses consumer trust in a way that traditional methods cannot—it allows a brand to have a wide audience without having to plan, implement, and execute a strategy. This saves time and money and is advantageous when done right.

A Social Media Release (SMR) is an online form of a press release, where one can add engagement objects to compel journalists and bloggers to view and, hopefully, re-publish it. These engagement objects offer a high probability of sparking the interests of individuals who wouldn’t otherwise be. The true benefit of social media marketing is that this translates to more material for journalists, bloggers, consumers, and even search engines to work with. The benefit for search engine optimization (SEO) is that each engagement object will be indexed separately in the search engine and can expand the scale to which your press release will reach. However, don’t replace your text entirely with engagement objects because you still need it to be cohesive for everyone involved.

Last year, MarketingSherpa released a video marketing report that stated that video was the most effective engagement object. This is because while a photo is worth a million words, a video is worth a few million. Thus, if your video is captivating enough, those who view it will be more likely to re-distribute it to the right channels. As we’ve covered thoroughly here, social media marketing’s power lies in the consumer, who will hopefully take their experiences with your brand and spread the good word to their friends. Individuals are more likely to like and re-share material recommended by friends than by brands themselves.

The bottom line is that video is great for any medium to aid you in social media marketing and search engine optimization (SEO).
