Google Now Offering Promoted Videos in AdWords

Promoted Videos originally enabled advertisers to promote their videos in YouTube search results before finding its way to the “related videos” section on YouTube and the AdSense network. The methodology behind Promoted Videos is all about search engine optimization (SEO). For example, AdSense matches up the contextual relevancy of a page to determine what ads to place on it. Likewise, Advertisers can bid on keywords and Google will determine which YouTube videos have relevant, matching keywords. Like search engine optimization (SEO), the ones with the most relevant keywords will appear first.

Promoted Videos has been a success, with a reported 500% increase in clicks since January of this year. This goes hand in hand with the rising popularity of videos among viewers and marketers alike. YouTube reports 20 hours of video being uploaded per minute. This is an amazing source of content, taking into consideration the brevity of most YouTube videos.

As we’ve discussed earlier, Video’s importance in search engine optimization (SEO) is inevitable. Now, Google acknowledges the appeal of Promoted Videos and is offering marketers the opportunity to promote their videos on Google AdWords. This makes it possible for a video to hit its intended audience on a larger scale. Now, even a small business can promote their product or service easily via a video. The broad reach of videos also extends internationally, as Promoted Videos is currently available in Canada, Italy, France, Germany, Spain, and the Netherlands and will eventually be rolled out to other countries.
