Facebook Voice Chat App Supplements Platform’s Social Media Marketing Tools

Facebook increased its user base to an astonishing 300 million active users by integrating new ideas from companies searching for early adopters. However, these third-party programs often have kinks mainstream users don’t want to deal with. For instance, many of the social media marketing platform’s popular tools are not original. Facebook’s current feed is the offspring of FriendFeed. Facebook Connect is an improvement from older single sign-on tools (think Open ID or Microsoft Passport), and their newest tagging feature and their real-time search is “inspired by” Twitter.

Facebook has managed to make all these existing social media tools appealing to a mainstream audience, an audience that most likely enjoys having all these tools on a single social media platform. This simplifies the job of social media marketing networkers, who can easily monitor their brand presence, get to know their friends and fans better, and easily share a multitude of information in one place.

So it’s no surprise that Facebook is looking to improve its chat functionality by introducing a voice chat application. Facebook previously announced a partnership with Vivox, a popular voice chat provider for video games. Today, the Vivox Voice Facebook application is available to test in its beta stages. It is being reported as easy to use, with invitations sent by a bit.ly link.  However, the flaw that many testers are noting is that it isn’t being directly integrated into Facebook Chat. The social media marketing platform will have to figure out how to integrate it seamlessly into their popular chat tool.

Regardless, if the Vivox Voice Application manages to be incorporated into Facebook’s set of tools, more social media marketers will be lured to the platform.
